Mathmos is growing we have a number of vacancies in the lava lamp factory in Poole where we have free car and bike parking on site.

 

Senior Compliance & Product Development Engineer

  • Salary: £38,000 – £48,000
  • Location: Mathmos Lava Lamp Factory (not hybrid)
  • Hours: Full Time
  • Start Date: ASAP

A fantastic opportunity to play an important role within a small but prominent and growing lighting company with excellent prospects for career advancement. A varied role covering new product design engineering and design development to compliance, testing and quality.

You will need at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a company making electrical products. A relevant degree. Good computer skills and a can-do commercial attitude.

New Product Development 

  • Manage projects for new product and product upgrade projects using company software.
  • Work on the design engineering of both new and current products.
  • Manage external designers, consultants and suppliers setting briefs and budgets.
  • Work with the team to bringing products on time, on budget and to the agreed quality.
  • Help identify opportunities for expanding the company’s product offering.
  • Support the Operations Manager on the commercial side of new product development; costs, quality, timing, choice of manufacturer.

Certification, Standards & Testing

  • Remain current with all changing legislation that affects the company’s products.
  • Supported by the Operations Manager ensure that all products comply with the current and forthcoming legal regulations.
  • Supported by the Operations Manager work with Nemko, the lighting association, UL and other bodies to ensure compliance.
  • Set, manage & complete test programs.
  • Manage the technical files for all products.

Product Quality 

  • Working closely with the Operations Manager to ensure that the manufacturers producing for Mathmos achieve the highest quality standards as is appropriate for a premium brand.
  • Issue AQLs, manage inspection companies, put in place goods inward inspection procedures.
  • Monitor recorded faults and complaints and issue reports as required.
  • Work to continuously improve product quality across the range.

Other tasks 

  • To work with the production team to optimise and understand the in house production processes.
  • To deputise and cover for colleagues as required in a small team.
  • Working closely with the MD obtain patents and design registrations where required on new products.
  • Maintain a register of current Intellectual Property Assets.

Senior eCommerce Specialist with PPC

Position Overview

Mathmos, inventors of the lava lamp, are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior eCommerce Marketing Specialist with excellent PPC skills to join our team. You will be based in the lava lamp factory in Poole and work on a broad spectrum of eCommerce activities with our small in-house team to grow our International D2C business further. This position is an excellent opportunity for a PPC specialist to work in a broader, more varied role in a small but well-known local company. It would suit a team player who enjoys working alongside others, is reliable and flexible and would enjoy making a significant contribution to the company’s success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative PPC strategies to drive traffic, increase conversion rates, and maximize ROI across Google, Amazon, Meta and other social media platforms.
  • Conduct in-depth keyword research, competitor analysis, and market trends to inform PPC campaign strategies.
  • Oversee budget allocation, bid management, and ad creative testing to achieve performance goals.
  • Collaborate with our in-house content creators, designers, and developers to ensure cohesive and effective campaigns.
  • Utilise analytics tools to provide regular performance reports, insights, and recommendations for continuous improvement in all aspects of our eCommerce operations.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Monitor and analyse eCommerce performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Use other eCommerce skills to grow Mathmos’ International e-commerce business.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience of at least two years developing and implementing successful PPC campaigns in an agency or eCommerce environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of PPC platforms, including Google Ads and Amazon.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, generate insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with A/B testing, landing page optimization, and conversion rate optimization.
  • Have good knowledge and experience of SEO practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to enable you to work with our small team.
  • Ability to keep up with the latest trends and best practices in eCommerce, digital marketing, and PPC.
