Standing 1.5m (5ft) tall, it brings the distinctive flow of a Mathmos lava lamp to a striking scale. We make every Jumbo Jet with the same precision, quality, and care that have guided our work for more than 60 years.
The Jumbo Jet takes inspiration from archived Mathmos designs, including the Jet model of the 1990s. These retro forms have been carefully revisited and refined for today, combining authentic design heritage with modern manufacturing standards. The result is a lamp that feels both established and contemporary, rooted in our history but designed for long-term use.
Each Jumbo Jet is manufactured in the UK and filled by hand using our unique Mathmos lava lamp formulation. This ensures the smooth flow, clarity, and longevity that customers expect. The larger design enhances the experience, allowing the movement of wax and light to unfold more gradually and with greater presence.
To mark the launch, customers who ordered over the opening weekend received a unique etching. These lamps feature a FIRSTEDITION mark etched onto the cap, alongside a unique number. This detail reflects the strong collector community around Mathmos products and our tradition of offering first editions at the standard retail price. It also creates a lasting connection between the lamp and its original owner.
Another defining feature of the Jumbo Jet is the ability to customise lava colourways. Customers can specify their preferred combinations, provided the wax and master fluid already exist within the established Mathmos range. This approach ensures that every lamp maintains the performance and reliability of our tested formulations, while offering a more personal expression of colour and light.
