New Astro Flame Candle Lava Lamp

Introducing Astro Flame, a candle-powered version of our classic 1963 design that has been adapted for candle by designer, Magnus Pettersen. This is the largest tea light-powered lava lamp in the range using bottles that are compatible across the entire iconic Astro range. Every Astro Flame lava lamp is entirely hand-made in Britain and includes three tea lights.

Mathmos Astro Flame Lava Lamp

The Astro Flame features a hand-spun aluminium base and cap in a polished silver finish, proudly made in Britain to the highest standards of craftsmanship. The lamp’s cordless design offers complete portability and flexibility, allowing it to be placed anywhere in the home or garden, whether on a table, in the bathroom, or on a patio.

This new design marks a substantial upgrade from previous candle-powered lava lamps, delivering a larger volume of lava for a more mesmerising effect, while still relying on just one small tea light. The precision-engineered cutouts in the base allow light to dance through, bringing the lava bottle to life as it glows from within, creating an enchanting visual experience enhanced by the warm, natural flicker of candlelight.

FIRST EDITION

To celebrate the launch of Astro Flame, we offered an exclusive opportunity for our earliest supporters to own a true collector’s item. Every order placed during the launch weekend was laser etched with a unique numbered FIRST EDITION mark, designating it as a highly collectible piece from this first release.

As demand exceeded 500 units during the launch weekend, all qualifying orders were entered into a lottery to allocate the FIRST EDITION lamps randomly among those orders. The FIRST EDITION launch was an opportunity to be part of Astro Flame’s legacy from the very beginning.

NEW Clear Lava Lamp Bottles

In our 2024 Mathmos survey, responders told us in great numbers that they would like more bottle lava colourways and more clear options across the range. In response, Mathmos took this opportunity to introduce three new clear colourways into the 1960s Original lava lamp range alongside the launch of Astro Flame.
